Why Have a Seminar?

Would you like us to come and present our series of seminars?  We’d be delighted!  But first, read why we believe this is important….

Why hold a CREATION vs. EVOLUTION seminar at your church or organization?

Is there a God who created everything?...or did all living things evolve through random, natural processes?  It's a question that is asked by so many people today, and it's a very reasonable question since it strikes at the very essence of our being.  Why am I here?  Why am I alive?  What is the meaning of life?  If there is a deeper meaning, what really happens when I die?

DarwinActually, the question really does boil down to the issue of supernatural versus natural. But, since our public schools have a "no biblical beliefs" approach to the theory of origins and the science classroom, that only leaves the "it happened naturally" view.

To that end, the most successful, and widely accepted theory of modern times is the theory of Darwinian evolution.  Generation after generation has been told (through public schools, museums, TV programs, etc.) that through mutations, natural selection, chance and adaptation we have journeyed from a single-celled organism, over hundreds of millions of years, to emerge as the beings we are today.  This is widely regarded, and taught, as fact.

But, is it?  Many scientists today are questioning that idea.  It has been over 140 years since Charles Darwin's book, Origin of Species, was published.  Testing many aspects of the theory have actually yielded data which indicates that Darwinian evolution is quite impossible - and it certainly is not observed to be happening.  To be sure, living things can, and do, change from time to time. Bacteria can become resistant to chemicals.  Finches (as Darwin observed) can change over time (but, the finch stayed a finch).  But, that is not "evolution" as we understand it and are taught today.  Most people, when they think of evolution, think in terms of lizards turning into birds, fish turning into frogs, apes turning into people, etc.   This is the "evolution" that is not observed and is not supported by scientific observation.

Evolution theoryUnfortunately, many people today (including Christians) have no idea what the real issues are.  Many believe in evolution simply because it's what they were taught. Many Christians cannot answer basic questions their neighbors, friends, or co-workers have regarding origins.  Many Christian young people are often very disillusioned when they get into the real world, because they don't know how to answer these questions.  The faith of many of these can be severely shaken.

Our seminars are designed, not only to promote an understanding of the scientific problems regarding evolutionary theory, but to educate people regarding the whole issue of the biblical "creation model", which includes the fall of man (sin entering the picture), the flood of Noah's day, the events at Babel, the importance of the Genesis record, etc.  These sessions promote the biblical version of origins - the version with meaning to life, a real sense of values, morality and order.  We have put together a series of informative and thought-provoking seminars that will educate and equip Christians to deal with this issue in a realistic manner.

How are the seminars conducted?

These are not dry lectures.  Our approach is to make this as interesting and understandable as possible so the information will be remembered.  We use PowerPoint, video, puppets (and other props) and sometimes live animal demonstrations.  The use of props and humor add to the interest.
